The song for this week is Touch the Hem of His Garment by Sam Cooke & The Soul Stirrers.
My prayers for family and friends usually consist of health and strength. I pray that ailments that affect their bodies will be only minor and nothing major will put them under heavy medication.
A woman in the bible went years with a medical issue that left her desperate; she had tried several doctors and even holistic medicine to cure it. This woman, weak and desperate, heard Jesus was coming through the city. Her faith was so strong to believe that if she could just touch the hem of his clothes she would be healed.
Wow! Is our faith that strong? Are we believing God for something? Are trusting Him for that spouse, house, car, or financial freedom? Let’s be like the woman and simply believe that Jesus can heal when the doctors cannot.
In Matthew 9:20-22 it states
And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
The song for this week is There’s a Leak in this Old Building by Lashun Pace.
As Christians, we believe God promised that our lives are not to be here on earth forever. He promised us that after we leave here we are to have a new body. Praise God. Hallelujah.
As we await the new body promised to us, we must continue to pray and realize we are not of this world but are here for a time to preach the gospel.
2 Corinthians 5:1-5
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
God had not Given Us By Stephen Hurd is the song for the week.
The news of death, murder, retaliation, disappointment and hurt makes for an emotional roller coaster for us all. It can raise questions such as:
- How can this be?
- Who is behind this?
- What about me?
- Am I next?
- How will the vigilantes view me?
These questions haunt us, filling our minds with doubt and distrust, and eventually breeding anger or resentment. They distract us from the focus on our Heavenly Father.
Fear can consume our thoughts and our actions, but the word of God in 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” So there is nothing for us as Children of God to worry about because He said so…and I refuse to believe otherwise.
Freedom by Darrell Evans is the song for the week.
July 4th is known as Independence Day, the day we Americans celebrate our freedom. Many risked their lives and some died for our freedom to choose how we want to govern ourselves. We thank them beyond measure for their sacrifice.
It is amazing that God thought enough of us to die on the cross for our freedom. His sacrifice allows us to be saved, to be set free, and be apart of His kingdom when we leave this Earth. We thank Him for his life so that we can know what true freedom feels like.
The Word of God states in 2 Corinthians 3:17, Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom
